오늘의 말씀 (이사야 41:1-13)

1 섬들아 내 앞에 잠잠하라 민족들아 힘을 새롭게 하라 가까이 나아오라 그리고 말하라 우리가 서로 재판 자리에 가까이 나아가자

1 'Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment.

2 누가 동방에서 사람을 일깨워서 공의로 그를 불러 자기 발 앞에 이르게 하였느냐 열국을 그의 앞에 넘겨 주며 그가 왕들을 다스리게 하되 그들이 그의 칼에 티끌 같게, 그의 활에 불리는 초개 같게 하매

2 'Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow.

3 그가 그들을 쫓아가서 그의 발로 가 보지 못한 길을 안전히 지났나니

3 He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before.

4 이 일을 누가 행하였느냐 누가 이루었느냐 누가 처음부터 만대를 불러내었느냐 나 여호와라 처음에도 나요 나중 있을 자에게도 내가 곧 그니라

4 Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD-with the first of them and with the last-I am he.'

5 섬들이 보고 두려워하며 땅 끝이 무서워 떨며 함께 모여 와서

5 The islands have seen it and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They approach and come forward;

6 각기 이웃을 도우며 그 형제에게 이르기를 너는 힘을 내라 하고

6 each helps the other and says to his brother, 'Be strong!'

7 목공은 금장색을 격려하며 망치로 고르게 하는 자는 메질꾼을 격려하며 이르되 땜질이 잘 된다 하니 그가 못을 단단히 박아 우상을 흔들리지 아니하게 하는도다

7 The craftsman encourages the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer spurs on him who strikes the anvil. He says of the welding, 'It is good.' He nails down the idol so it will not topple.

8 그러나 나의 종 너 이스라엘아 내가 택한 야곱아 나의 벗 아브라함의 자손아

8 'But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,

9 내가 땅 끝에서부터 너를 붙들며 땅 모퉁이에서부터 너를 부르고 네게 이르기를 너는 나의 종이라 내가 너를 택하고 싫어하여 버리지 아니하였다 하였노라

9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

10 두려워하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와 주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라

10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

11 보라 네게 노하던 자들이 수치와 욕을 당할 것이요 너와 다투는 자들이 아무것도 아닌 것 같이 될 것이며 멸망할 것이라

11 'All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

12 네가 찾아도 너와 싸우던 자들을 만나지 못할 것이요 너를 치는 자들은 아무것도 아닌 것 같고 허무한 것 같이 되리니

12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.

13 이는 나 여호와 너의 하나님이 네 오른손을 붙들고 네게 이르기를 두려워하지 말라 내가 너를 도우리라 할 것임이니라

13 For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
